This update keeps getting better and better! 😱 

If you're already familiar with FontAwesome, you already know how exciting this is (I'm looking at you front-end developers). You may or may not have known that FontAwesome icons are already fully integrated into coreFORCE but we now give you the ability to use the library of 7,865 icons directly in the (still horribly named) WYSIWYG editor!


What is FontAwesome? Well, FontAwesome is a library of professionally designed, pixel-perfect icons and symbols that you can use in your websites.

You can now add notes to a completed order without having to reopen the order. This is especially important for dealers who have automatic notifications when an order is marked completed!

You can now set fixed tax amounts for any products or for products in departments. This was needed for Illinois, where there is a flat $25 tax plus a percentage on firearms.

You can change this in Orders -> Settings -> State Tax Rates.

The EasyPost Create Label dialog will check "Signature required" if the shipment is being sent to an FFL.  To make "Adult Signature Required" checked by default, add the department codes you want to require an adult signature here in a comma-separated list.


This can be set up in Orders -> Setup in the EasyPost tab.

The EasyPost Create Label dialog will give you a dropdown list of the various HazMat options. 

This can be set up in Orders -> Setup in the EasyPost tab.

Did you know you can modify the column headers in the Orders Dashboard? If you select Actions -> Preferences you can actually select a LOT of different potential column headers! Our newest addition allows you to see inventory alerts for when orders contain products that are low on inventory!

improvement Contact CSV Import Now Verifies Addresses

While this is GREAT for verifying that your data is clean, this also makes it possible to accurately parse addresses that aren’t broken out.  So, instead of having separate fields for Address1, city, state, and postal code, you can now just have a single full_address field, and coreFORCE will figure it out. This is especially useful for our new clients coming from AmmoReady. 

Please note that we do pay for those address lookups though, so if you are wanting to import thousands of addresses, we might have to charge a data import fee.

And you can set each employee to run the system in their preferred language, just hop over to the employee management screen and scroll to where it says language to select the language of choice (or as they say in Spanish - Idioma). We can't guarantee complete accuracy nor do we have everything translated but it's a good start towards our future global expansion 😁!

Delivery Screen

new feature Edit sale button will now take you the actual Edit Sale screen rather than bringing up the transaction in the sales screen. You can still click on the order number to bring up the sales screen.


WORK ORDERS

new feature You can now easily drag images in the work order screen as well as take a picture directly in the screen.


improvement Work order images are now stored to the database rather than the file system, this is to enable better load balancing of coreSTORE.

We integrated membership and subscription selling from coreFORCE into coreSTORE. For any of you who run a range, or any other type of business that requires recurring billing/subscriptions you can now sell classes AND memberships right from the register and we truly apologize for how long it took us to get the membership integration done.   

For those of you not in the know, our ECommerce platform coreFORCE has all the functionality for handling recurring membership billing, membership management, online range scheduling, class management and registrations, online waivers and a whole lot more. If you would like to learn more or see a full demo of coreFORCE just send a ticket or email sales@coreware.com..  

Lets start by showing a screen show of how an existing member's information is displayed on the sales screen.  I don't think I really needed the arrow to point it out. One important tip - if you see the ... make sure to click it if this person has more than one membership.


Next lets talk about selling memberships.  Just a few quick steps to enable this feature.  In the Store Configuration make sure to check the option "Sell subscriptions/memberships".


You can also change the button caption. Once you check the option you will see a new button in the button grid that is displayed on the sale screen:



improvement Quick Scan Icon More Visible

You may not even know that you can quickly scan multiple serial numbers at once in the receiving and sales screen, so we decided to try and make it more obvious.  Look for the orange icon with the bar code symbol.  Click it and watch the magic happen.

Yes we have an app and even more exciting we have completely revamped the app and it's better than ever.  Just to mention a few highlights:

  • Easier and quicker setup. Just enter your coreSTORE subdomain and start using the app.


  • Set the app to automatically load the sale screen (open sale view)
  • Set the app to automatically open the customer facing display
  • Choose to open the cash drawer for cash and check payment types only
  • New toolbar displayed on every screen with shortcuts to scan, print, go home and back a screen.


  • Print receipts from your Android device.  Make sure you are using a Star Micronics printer and also make sure you install the Star Micronics PASSPRNT app (click the icon to install the app).    

Once you install PASSPRNT, you can run it on your device and make sure you can connect to your receipt printer.

improvement exciting! Speaking of coreCLEAR... Are you Hesitant About Switching Merchant Providers?

We now have the ability to import saved accounts from a different merchant provider, including updating any recurring transactions to use the new merchant provider.  This allows us to perform an nearly seamless migration to coreCLEAR from other merchant gateways.



improvement Orders Dashboard Updates!

1) On the Order Dashboard, if the billing address is a long distance from the shipping address, the billing address will now be highlighted with a warning showing the distance.  This should help catch potentially fraudulent orders. 

2) On the Order Dashboard, there is now a count of the total quantity of items ordered (less deleted items) and the total quantity of items shipped (less secondary shipments).  This will help ensure that no products are missed when fulfilling large orders.




improvement Reservation Confirmation Page Update

If you've worked with online scheduling, you may know this as the page running the script: reservefacility.php.

This page now includes a business name field, and if the customer is not logged in, there will also be a phone number field. This allows a bit more flexibility to this page, especially if you'd like to use it for scheduling appointments whereas it has traditionally been used for events and facility reservations.



improvement Contact Subscription - Notes Field

Contact Subscription records now have a notes field to allow staff to record the reason why a subscription was paused or cancelled. 

This reason will show in the subscription report. 


 




Quick Update - Seriously

improvement When deleting a sale containing a gift card, the gift card balance will now be updated properly (including on your website).

improvement The last 4 digits of the credit card will be displayed in the Payment Details report when using the "manual card" option.

improvement Added more detailed error messages on the receiving screen when importing products from the website.  This should help clarify why an item can't be added.

fix Tip screen will show up properly on the customer display.  There was an issue with it not showing the correct tip calculations.

fix There was a way to enter a serial number twice on a sale, this has been corrected.

new feature Order History Now Shows Shipping Method

A logged in user can now go into My Account to see the shipping method used on their order. This will hide the shipping address for pickup orders and virtual products.




improvement User Substitution Fields for Templates

We now have a better way to to display names, email addresses, physical addresses, and more directly in the website template itself. This could be useful for many different things, such as if you'd like the customer's address to be displayed somewhere on a page. 

important Please note: incorrectly changing your site template can make your entire site unusable.  If you have any doubts about how to change your site template safely, submit a help desk ticket and we will be happy to assist you.

For the developers out there, some of the substitution values include:

  • %userDisplayName%
  • %email_address%
  • %contact_id%
  • %city%
  • %state%

We added code to ensure that our shooting sports catalog stays clean in the rare event that a distributor feed includes a placeholder UPC code.

 

Did you notice anything new?

I usually post our announcement at the same time we release the update, but this time we are 2 days behind on the announcement so some of you may have already seen a few of the exciting changes and enhancements.

Lets start out with this awesome photo.  I've been obsessing over finding the best hardware solutions for coreSTORE, both aesthetically and technically. At this point our local delivery drivers are tired of coming to the house which has been a daily occurrence bringing me tablets, wires, hubs, mounts, stands, printers, scanners and more.  The result is going to be an incredible selection of hardware that will elevate your experience with coreSTORE.


Work Orders

This update for work orders relates primarily to our FFL customers and it's exciting!  Our goal with all of our product offering is to help save you time, reduce errors and improve your productivity.  

new feature We have made it easier to track firearms being repaired that need to be sent out to a supplier/manufacturer.  The key is to setup at least two statuses in the Work Order status.  

The first status you should setup is to track items that are being sent out.  Make sure to check the box: Send to Supplier.

 

When you change the status of a work order to this status,  you will see a drop down box to select the supplier (or add a new one by clicking the button).  Once you select the supplier and hit Save, if the item under repair is a firearm the system will dispose the firearm for you to the supplier that you selected.


The second status you should setup is a status to track when the item is returned from the supplier.   When you change a work order to this status it will acquire the firearm back from the supplier and create the new acquisition record in the bound book.


You can also send out multiple items for repair to the same supplier in once step.


new feature In store config you can now enter a Work Order Policy.  This policy will be printed on the work order.

new feature If you are using coreCLEAR, you can now setup a register that allows you to enter credit cards manually.  This is very beneficial if you take orders over the phone and need to securely process a credit card transaction without having to enter the transaction separately on the gateway.  If you are interested in setting up a register for entering manual transactions simply submit a support ticket and we will get you setup.

fix Fixed the ability to store a credit card on file when using a USB based terminal.


Sale Screen - Collapse/Expand Detail

On the sales screen you can now collapse the item detail, this is beneficial when using a smaller screen especially a tablet.  There is also a new configuration option that lets you collapse the line item detail by default.

Tips

You may not know this but coreSTORE supports tips and we have now added the tip screen to the customer facing display.  

To setup your system to accept tips go to the Store Config search for the word Tips and you can enable tips in the system.


fix Boundbook will properly save action and barrel information.

Order Up!

Order Status

new video tip At Coreware, we are always seeking to unify and simplify the way that you do business! Well, Utilizing Order Status is a fantastic way to take better control of your orders dashboard! Watch this video to learn how to set them!

improvement new feature This week's new feature brings you the ability to resend an order status email after a certain amount of days have passed. This email will resend until the order status of the order is changed. Set this value to zero to ignore. 



new feature Order Sources 

Order sources allow you to see the source of an order in the orders dashboard. These are automatically created in the code if they don't exist already and are currently only utilized for GunBroker.

The sources are applied automatically. We look at the data we get from GunBroker and see if GunBroker shows a sales tax total. If there is a sales tax total, then we use the source "GunBroker with taxes collected," and mark the order as tax-exempt in coreFORCE. 

If there is no sales tax total from Gun Broker we just use the normal source "GunBroker" and collect tax in coreFORCE.



Miscellaneous improvements 

Added error message for the customer when inventory quantities change. It could be because you added it to their cart a long time ago and came back and tried to check out, or it could be that since they added it to their cart, someone else purchased the last one.

  • Some items are no longer available or not available in the quantities selected. Quantities have been adjusted.

The infusionsoft integration will now keep event registrants in sync even when changes are made via the backend.

The text “In-store purchase only” on the Add to Cart button can now be customized via fragment.  

Updates to Wysiwyg editor and content builder

tip Simple Page Edits

Not all who don't write HTML are lost... Is that how the saying goes? 

Did you know that making simple edits to emails, pages, etc. in coreFORCE doesn't always require knowledge of HTML? You can actually make simple edits using our Wysiwyg editor (say that 10 times fast!)

Simply click the square box in the bottom right corner to open that up! OR you can alt+click (Windows) or option+click (Mac) to open up an editor like you'll find in product maintenance which will display your email or page as written in HTML.

Payment method is now a multi-select in the orders report so you can include or exclude any combination of payment methods.



improvement tip Help Desk Changes

  • Forwarded emails can now make it into the Help Desk.

Added a "Mark as Spam" option for tickets. Please note that the ticket has to be open and no notes added yet for this to work. Additionally, users will need access to the Help Desk Ignore Email Maintenance Page as all this option does is add the email on the ticket to the ignore list. 

We also added preferences to control which email headers and keywords will be ignored by the parser. There are a few options ignored by default. This can be set in Manage Client Preferences under "Help Desk Allow Email Headers" and "Help Desk Allow Email Message". Clicking on the blue "more information" icon will provide more information about how to add these. 

The default ignore list options are ignored because they could create email loops. Use this setting with caution.

Items

There is a store configuration setting in the Sales section:

Do NOT Allow Items to be Sold Below Cost? 

When this option is set, you cannot sell an item below cost, which is a good thing...most of the time.  We added a  new option in the items screen that will allow you to override this option for specific items.  You will find this option in the Pricing Tab of the items screen, this option will ONLY be displayed if the store configuration option is checked.


Sales

improvement When deleting a sale transaction (obviously you want to avoid doing this but there are times this is necessary, the system will now prompt you and ask if you want to refund the credit card transaction in the event the transaction was paid with a credit card.

new feature Added a new security option that specifies whether the employee has the security right to edit the sale/payment date.


Deliveries

improvement When manually importing orders from your web site, you can now import a range of orders by using a dash to separate the starting order number and ending order number:



Work Orders

improvement Work order printout will now include the Estimated Date, Estimated Labor and Estimated Parts.

new feature Work Order Status Update

We added two fields to the work order status screen:

  • Send to Supplier
  • Receive from Supplier

For our FFL users, these two fields will be used in a very near future update to automatically dispose a firearm that is being repaired and needs to be sent back to the manufacturer or to another FFL for repair and/or improvement.  This will also be used to automatically acquire the firearm that is being returned by the supplier/manufacturer.


Customer Facing Display - We've Gone Vertical!



improvement We (and by we, I mean "I") have been obsessing over the customer display because it's so important for your customers to have the best experience.  After a wonderful visit with our friends at Mad Dog Armory we realized that the vertical orientated customer display would be so much better, so we fixed up some things and made sure that if you rotate your customer display everything just falls into place beautifully.   By turning it vertically you can see more items on the screen and in one of our upcoming updates you will be able to show banners at the bottom of the screen.

improvement No matter what orientation you are (vertical, horizontal or non oriented), we have increased the font sizes of the items section so your customers can easily read the display.

improvement The logo will now be displayed in a correct size.

Miscellaneous Improvements

improvement Added the register id to the locations screen which is helpful when setting up the mobile app on a tablet to act as a customer facing display.  Stay tuned for our updated mobile app.

General Fixes

fix Fixed some pricing issues when Price is % of Subtotal, Price is % of Previous Item were set to 0 (it will now treat them the same as if they were not set).

fix Fixed some issues with integration into coreFORCE.

fix Change Due field at times was not showing the correct amount.

fix Events/Classes from coreFORCE were being taxed even when the tax flag was turned off for events.  This has now been fixed.

fix On the sales screen when starting a new work order, the first item price is set to 0 - this is correct. HOWEVER, EVERY item entered after that was changing the price to 0 which was not correct. 

fix Fixed the Consigment Report to properly align the fields when outputting the report to PDF.

fix When cancelling out of editing a sale transaction, the subsequent sale transaction would result in the register id being blank which affected daily reporting, this issue has been fixed.

fix Fixed an issue when processing cards using the IDTech VP8300 and IDTECH VP3300 which was causing a secondary call to be made to the gateway.

Category Screen - Specify Attributes

You will now see in the Category screen a new field called Attributes, and you can actually enter a list of attributes to be associated with a category.  What purpose you may ask - well, we will reveal this in one of our next updates.

improvement Modified code for enabling/disabling Section D/E buttons to take into account an edge case where the D button could be enabled while the E button was disabled even if the customer signed Section B that same day (original code was getting the number of days between today and the creation date of the 4473; it should have looked at the certification date instead, which *could* be a different date than the 4473 creation (although rare)).

improvement Force regeneration of PDF when Section D or Section E signature is provided/changed (if necessary).

FIX Fixed bug where entering values in Q28 or Q29 of Section C was bringing up dialog requiring data to be input for Q27; this no longer happens and Section C is saved properly.

FIX Q19 was not showing the "Other Countries" on the PDF if the person was a citizen of multiple countries including the US.

FIX License information was not pushing back to the connected boundbook records if the license type was 'State ID' (it was only pushing back if the type was 'Driver's License'); it now pushes back State IDs.

FIX Section B/Q19 was not clearing out the "Other Countries" field in the DB if you set Other Country Citizenship to "NO" and submitted Section B.

FIX Changing the Place of Birth toggle and submitting Section B was not clearing out the City/State (if Country was picked) or Country popup (if City/State was entered).

You now have the ability to delete GunBroker listings (Orders -> GunBroker -> Listings). This offers you a way to clean up some of your listings. Simply select the check box next to the items you'd like to delete and click the "Delete Selected Products" button:


Please be aware that this does NOT delete the listing from GunBroker. This ONLY removes them from your coreFORCE listings.

fix Complex Forms

We've been adding in a lot of functionality for forms recently, and as we added complexity, we noticed that some of the more complex forms, especially forms with "panels" that hide and show based on "next" and "previous" buttons, were not displaying properly in the backend. 

There is now an option to tag a form as "complex" where it will simply display the data in the back-end rather than display it as displayed to the public. This will be set in form definitions in the control tab: form_definition, complex_form, true:
