Tuesday Update

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas.

A few updates to coreSTORE today:

new feature Image Improvement

You can now use your webcam to take an image of a customer, supplier or items.  The new image control will allow you to click the camera icon and snap a picture.  This is useful if you are taking a picture of a drivers license or a product image.

improvement Label Replacement Fields

We've added support for additional fields that can be printed on labels being produced from the items, receiving, and/or bound book screen.

location_items.location
(This is the field that is typically used to store the bin of an item)

location_items.cost_price
(good to use for multi locations that have different cost/pricing at different stores)

location_items.unit_price

location_items.promo_price
location_items.start_date
location_items.end_date
location_items.quantity
location_items.quantity_on_order
location_items.quantity_committed
location_items.reorder_level
location_items.replenish_level location_items.override_default_tax
location_items.tax_class_id

improvement Higher Resolution Logos

Many of you have requested better quality logo to print on your receipts.  The system will now allow you to upload a higher resolution logo and the printing will retain the quality of the logo. Make sure to upload your logo again even if you did in the past. Prior to this update we were compressing the logo which is what caused the loss in resolution.

fix The scheduler should now properly show all events that are setup on teh web sit.

Important Update - PLEASE READ!

Please read through the entire announcement.  Lots of exciting updates and just in time for Christmas 😀!  Ignore any typos, grammatical errors, or unfinished sentences, it's 3AM and I'm just too tired to proof read this.

SALES & REPORTS

new feature Suspended Sales Major Enhancement exciting!

For each different suspended sale transaction you can now set how it behaves on a granular level. This will definitely affect your reports so make sure to go to Store Config and jump to the Suspended Sales section to set your suspended sales the way that fits your business.

For each sale type you can specify:

Update Inventory - How would you like inventory to be updated when suspending the transaction.  You can choose to ignore, deduct or commit.  Commit does not touch your current on hand, instead it adds the quantity to the committed bucket.  The inventory that is available to sell is calculated by taking the on hand less what's committed.

Treat as Sale - When this option is selected the transaction will appear in sales reports as soon as it's suspended.  If you don't want to show the transaction in the sales reports make sure you don't check the box.

Change Sale Date when Suspending - When this option is checked then each time you suspend the transaction the sale date will be changed to the date you suspended the transaction.

Change Sale Date on Completion - When you check this option the date of the sale will change when you complete the transaction.  So if you want to recognize the sale on the date it completes, make sure to check this box.  Otherwise the date of the sale will be the date the transaction was suspended.

Hide In Reports - Checking this box will hide the suspended transaction from any sales reports. Make sure to check this box if you want to hide the transaction from the sales reports while it's suspended.

Minimum Deposit - If you want to collect a minimum deposit amount then specify the % deposit required for this specific suspended transaction type.

Require Customer - Check this box if a customer must be selected in order to suspend the transaction.

new feature Text Messaging (SMS) exciting!

This is the first phase of building in SMS support throughout coreSTORE.  You will have to sign up for an account with Twilio.  Once you have an account with them make sure to go to your Locations screen to fill out the 3 required fields.

Once you have your account settings, in the sales screen you will see an option to SMS the sales receipt.

There is also a store configuration option that lets you specify whether you want to automatically send the sales receipt via SMS message:

You can also send an SMS message to 1 or more customers at once, directly from the customers screen:

new feature Sales Transaction Log

Added a log to track the history of a sales transaction.  The log will help see the history of a transaction.  You can view the log on the sales receipt screen.

When you click the log button you will see a full history of the transaction.  In the example below, I started with an estimate and then completed the transaction.

improvement Payment Report Improvement

You can now choose multiple payment types to report on.

improvement Serial Numbers Updated when Deleting a Receiving Transaction

When deleting a receiving transaction that has serial numbers, the serial numbers will be deleted from the inventory screen as well.

fix On the items screen when changing multiple items at once from ECommerce to Non ECommerce or vice versa the web site will be updated accordingly.

fix Fixed catalog lookup bug when entering a search on the items screen it was kicking back to the dashboard when clicking on the magnifying glass.

fix Fixed issues with Easypost and the delivery screen.  Did you know you can print shipping labels right in coreSTORE (if you are using Shipstation or something else, just ask yourself why?).

🎉🎉🎉If you don't sell firearms you are free to leave!!🎉🎉🎉

Bound Book

new feature When acquiring and disposing a firearm directly from the bound book the system will ask you if you want to update inventory.  This gives you the opportunity to receive firearms without affecting your inventory directly in the bound book.  You can also dispose the firearm without affecting your local inventory.

When responding Yes, coreSTORE will update the quantity in inventory and also create a proper audit trail in the Inventory tab of the item screen.

4473 & 3310

improvement Clicking image icons in Section C will show full-sized versions of the image; clicking close box now deletes image 1

improvement Changed cited USC code for multiple rifle alerts, 4-state limitation on 3310.12s, manual disposition not recognizing bound books marked as 'use for work orders'

improvement Changed 'days open for business' in Store Config to have individual day checkboxes so that the 5 day 3310 multiple handgun alert will generate properly for stores that are not open on all weekdays.

improvement Added info to bottom of form letting user know about where their email is sent.

improvement Added instructional text on Locations page to indicate the purpose of the Agency Emails and how the 3310 emails are sent.

improvement   Modified logic so that 3310.12 alerts are only generated if the FFL is in CA, AZ, NM, or TX.

improvement Modified text of multiple-rifle alert to specify the states involved.

improvement  Subtracted 1 day from 3310 alert check (it was not including the current sale day)

fix Fixed issue on Section C where Q27 was being cleared out when Q29 was selected - some states need to do a NICS check for a concealed carry and provide 27a-27c when 29 is selected

fix Fixed bug where the section breadcrumbs were displaying at the Kiosk

Tuesday Update - For Our FFL Customers

If you missed yesterday's update, make sure to scroll to the announcement below this one.

new feature Added breadcrumbs to 4473 to easily jump between sections without having to go back to the main screen.

fix Instance of 3310 was not showing the correct firearms

fix Error message: "Boundbook record not found" was showing up in Section E.

fix Generate 3310 when a firearm is disposed of manually through the Boundbook record disposition interface.

fix Drivers License wasn't being overwritten properly from the 4473 to Boundbook.

fix NICS Date and DL Date were showing up as "11/30/0001" instead of blank in Boundbook.

Monday Update

A quick update:

improvement Signature on Sales Screen

If you enable the configuration option: Capture Signature For All Sales, the system will now allow capturing a signature on any device that has a touch screen including desktop computers.

new feature coreFORCE New Feature

Layaways and on account sales can now create an online invoice so customers can make payments online.  There are two new configuration options to enable these features:

fix Ammoready orders with credit card convenience fees were not being imported properly, this should now be fixed.

fix Clicking on the order number in the internet order notification will now bring up that order.

fix Detailed employee report can now be opened in Excel

fix coreCLEAR customers can now properly run Returns and Refunds (a return is not based on a prior transaction, a refund is based on a prior transaction). Refunds will not require the customer to be present and will use the sale transaction to issue the refund.

Happy December - Time for Another Update

exciting! coreBUILDER news

As we continue to go through the "pandemic" the face of retail is certainly changing and part of these changes has now forced every retailer in the country to make sure they have a website and online store.   coreFORCE is an enterprise high-end ECommerce that is not geared for smaller retailers, so we are excited to announce the availability of coreBUILDER.   More information will be coming in the next few days and as a coreSTORE user, you will have free access to the Basic or Standard plans. Think of coreBUILDER as the Wix and Shopify killer.

Learn more about coreBUILDER by visiting our website: www.corebuilder.info.

Items Screen

Added an option to price an item based on a % of the previous item and set a minimum price.  This is a great feature if you sell a warranty on an item and the warranty is a % of the item cost.

Receiving

improvement Set Supplier when Receiving Items

When receiving items that don't have a default supplier assigned, the system will now assign the supplier you are receiving from as the default supplier. This is really helpful when doing consignments, it saves an extra step.

Suppliers

new feature Added the ability to show any custom supplier field on the receiving screen.

Work Orders

new feature Added an option to hide Completed Work Ordres.

Classes and Events

Do you offer classes?  Do you use coreFORCE (formally and currently known as coreSHOP and mistakenly often known as Coreware) and allow customers to register for classes online?  We are excited to announce the ability to register customers directly at the point of sale.

To enable this feature first you must be a coreFORCE customer, if you are not one already or have no idea what coreFORCE is, then please just drop us a help desk ticket.  With coreFORCE you can:

  • Manage Memberships
  • Offer Classes
  • Setup Range Reservations
  • Enable Waivers
  • And a whole lot more

Once you have coreFORCE you can visit the Store Configuration and under the Scheduling section enable the Events/Classes.  Make sure to check the box if you typically charge tax for events and classes.

Once you enabled this option when you access the sale screen you will see the Events/Classes button at the top right of the screen:

Clicking this button will bring up our beautiful calendar showing you all the classes and events that you have set up in coreFORCE.  The price along with the number of registrants and total capacity will be displayed.

Once you see the class/event you are looking for just click it to add the class/event to the sale transaction.  You can also narrow down the list by clicking the drop down in the top left to only show specific classes/events that the customer is interested in.

As I type all this I realize this should be a video - HINT HINT to my staff.   This is a great new feature for any store or range that offers any type of class.

By the way, if you are adding a new customer they will be added to the website automatically (coreFORCE customers only!).

coreFORCE

new feature Add new customers to web site

New customers will be added as new contacts (if not found based on email address search).  This option is defaulted to true.  So if you don't want new contacts to be added to your web site make sure to uncheck this option.

4473 & Boundbook

new feature Reset PDF

You can now reset the PDF if for any reason the PDF that is printing does not reflect the information you are excpecting to see.

new feature Hide Archived 4473's & Force All CAP

Two new bound book configuration options are now enabled.  The first one allows you to force the system so that all data entered on the 4473 screen is in CAPS.  Just Rememebr that if you set this option it doesn't mean your customers are yelling at you.

The second new option allows you to hide archived 4473's by default.  By checking this box your archived 4473's will be hidden when you access the Manage 4473 screen.

new feature TICS Integration

We have added support to our NICS plug-in for the Tennessee Instant Check which replaces the NICS check.   It works by using the latest NICS plug-in.  If you are in TN then this one is a great feature.   If you are in a state that uses a state background check system and would like us to automate the process, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.  The state with the most requests will win the race and will be the next state we automate.

important If you are in TN and want to use this new feature please make sure to download the latest NICS plug-in if you want to use this feature.

bug fixes We don't like them either!

fix coreFORCE orders were not always pulling inventory out of the correct inventory location.

fix 4473 - Section E was giving an error when the bound book record was already disposed. This has been fixed.
fix 4473 - Not all 3310 information was being placed in the form.
fix 4473 - Importer was not displaying on the form
fix 4473 - Fixed the NICS and Customer Information in the bound book which was not always saving.

Back to Back Updates? YES!

First and foremost, if you didn't read What's New from Tuesday November 17th, please make sure to scroll down and read that too.  We have a couple of important fixes and enhancements that we wanted to roll out quickly.

new feature Change Items in Bulk

You can now mark a selected group of items as ECommerce or mark them off ECommerce and also you can assign a selected group of items to a different category.

new feature Search for Customer by their Id

Search for a customer by entering or scanning the person id which is the unique id assigned by coreSTORE.  This is great for membership cards which can now be printed directly from coreSTORE (see our Tuesday update to learn more).

new featureReceive a Range of Serial Numbers

When receiving a serialized item you can now specify a range of serial numbers to receive.  The range needs to be specified with the starting serial number and final serial number. In the example below the range would be entered as followed:

KS10800-KS10804

Corestore will look at the last digits of the serial number to determine what the serial numbers should be.   Use this feature with caution.  Make sure you TRULY have a range of serial numbers to receive and none were skipped.

new feature Added Report Option to All Reports

Added new predefined date ranges to all reports:

Last 60 and Last 90 days.

new feature coreFORCE Out of Stock Price

Added a new configuration option under ECommerce section to transmit the list price as the out of stock price for an item.  This will add a new price level in the pricing tab with None as the location, which will always ensure that there is a price showing for an item.

fix Consignment Cost Calculation

The cost of a consignment item will properly calculate based on the following:

Selling Price * Consignment Cost % - Consignment Fee

In the example above if the item sells for $500, the cost would be calculated as:

$500 * 82% - $10

So that would be $400.   The $10 consignment fee will deduct from the total item cost since this is a fee you are charging the consignor.
